I don't know what came first my love for good food shared or
my love for beautiful dishes to share food in.
As I go through my day I notice how much time is spend in the kitchen. As I mix muesli for the week, marinate the chicken for tonight's dinner my thoughts dwell on togetherness. The shared meal. I remember the meals of my childhood. In particular the dinners we shared at our grandparents. The rich conversations and stories told and re-told.
Sometimes I feel a little bit old fashioned.
I have a yearning for rituals of old in a world that moves to fast.
I have a yearning for rituals of old in a world that moves to fast.
Then I remember the following quote:
“The best meals are a feast for the soul:
they nourish us completely.
They touch every part of our being:
physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual.
They make us feel connected to one another,
to our history, to the earth that feeds us,
and the source of the earth's bounty”*
